Opening Minds’ Articles of Incorporation was filed with the California State Secretary on January 31, 2021 and approved on March 13, 2021.

Our mission is to provide evidence-based treatment to improve the lives of our families.

Opening Minds provides Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services for clients with Autism. Our Clinical Team members will work closely with families to provide individualized programs tailored to each client's needs.


In-Home Services

In-Home Services

Our Early Start Autism Intervention Services Program will be provided by a clinical team of BTs, RBTs, SRBT and BCBAs. Programs introduced by the clinical team will be empirically driven and customized to the individual needs of the client. At the program completion, clients will independently display improved behavioral, social, and communicative skills. Clients will also independently recognize acceptable behaviors associated with different environmental settings and perform within socially accepted norms.

We recognizes our supportive roles and the importance of caregivers’ involvement in the treatment of our clients. Our Clinical Team will schedule training for caregivers as needed.

Jose-Guadalupe Vargas

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Clinical Director

Jose has over 10 years of experience working with children with special needs initially starting as a Child Care Worker in 2014, Jose worked his way up the ranks to become a Registered Behavior Technician, Clinical Supervisor, and now a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Jose also has experience working as a long term substitute teacher with Stockton Unified School District providing instruction to young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Jose will perform the function of a BCBA for his assigned caseload developing individualized treatment plans for each assigned client(s) and providing direct case supervision to Supervising Registered Behavior Technician (SRBT), RBTs' and BTs'.

Mai Boonsalat

Supervising Registered Behavior Technician (SRBT)

Mai has over 17 years of experiences in the field of education, 16 years of working in the ABA field, five years as a Registered Behavior Technician and three years as a Midlevel Clinical Supervisor. Mai received her master’s degree at National University and will be taking her exam to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). As an SRBT for Opening Minds, Mai on top of providing direct services to clients, she will be training and overseeing BTs' & RBTs' as well as assisting our BCBA.

Ted Thanh Ly

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Ted received his Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from The University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

Maria Santos

Lead Registered Behavior Technician (LRBT)

Maria has over eleven years of experience working with children of those six years as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Maria has extensive experience working in the with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from toddlers to young adults. Currently as an LRBT with Opening Minds, Maria will be supporting the clinical staff.

Cindy Martin

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Cynthia is a dedicated professional with 17 years of experience in the education field. She spent 15 years as a preschool teacher, nurturing early childhood development and fostering a love of learning. For the past five years, she has brought her expertise to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT), where she is passionate about helping her clients achieve their developmental and behavioral goals.

Melissa Heidebrecht

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Melissa has the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and establish ongoing relationships. She is capable of quickly learning new systems and programs in new environments. Though she has minimal experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), she’s very passionate about working with children. As a technician with Opening Minds, Melissa will be responsible for providing direct one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to clients under close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Kassidy Chhoung-Sun

Kassidy is new to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is passionate about working with children and help them gain the necessary skills needed. As a Behavior Technician with Opening Minds, Kassidy will be responsible for providing direct one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to clients under close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Michael is new to the APA filed and is ready to learn all he can to support our families and clients. He recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in General Philosophy from California State University, Sacramento.
